THANK YOU COMMON!

"Common is currently working on a new album titled “BELIEVE” and will be working with No ID who heavily influenced Kayne West. The new album is going back to being very raw, soulful hip-hop."

5 cent fridays

@Intalek paid for the 5 cent wings.. haha

no need to sacrifice the spice]

i, like many other artists, always come to the point where i ask myself, "what more can i do? how can i switch it up? how do i stay relevant?". well, not so much the last question. but u get the idea. so its late, 3:06am.. 'everybody hates chris' on the "boob tube" and j dilla thru my speakaz. i mean, yeah i can rap. but anybody can rap.. right? i can create sounds more like it. not tryna sound conceited tho. just realizin my potential, feel me?

when it comes to writing or being artistic in any way i do it for myself first. then my reflections second. you all are my reflections.
i dont get bored with my ways, i just wanna try somethin different. i wanna see how you all will react to my artistry when i take a few more steps outside of my bubble. take myself to a higher level. do somethin that i havent done already. i dunno, mind slips me

at this point im beginning to ramble. u know, when its late and u just start thinkin bout stuff?
thats what im doin. i dont really have a complete thought
i just wanted to voice somethin to yall

appreciate your listen.

xoxo

NEW VIDEO: J*Davey

I've been hearing about this duo for sometime now and i'm actually really starting to get into their music. The girl's voice is so cute lol. Their style is different from what's mainstream right now, which is always good in my book. I kinda hear Andre3000 on this song. Remix maybe?? Do it! Anyway, cool vido, cool song. =)

ALBUM REVIEW: Erykah Badu - New Amerykah pt2: Return of the Ankh

First off, I gotta say, listening to any Erykah Badu track always puts me at ease and forces me to just let go. I just bought her newest album New Amerykah Pt.2: Return of the Ankh off of iTunes last night and I've been playing it nonstop. Erykah does it again, she is truly an artist. Not only does she paint a picture with every song on this album but she also writes somewhat of introduction/story of herself in the Digital Booklet. This woman is undoubtedly phenomenal and I will forever be a fan of her work. She never ceases to amaze me and I still cannot believe I have yet to see her live! Oh, but I will definitely change that.

Jim Farber of NYDailyNews.com writes:

"...From the start, Badu stood as the most radical of the '90s alterna-soul stars. Among her original peers, D'Angelo has since disappeared and Maxwell streamlined his sound into something more trenchant and sweet... Badu's music risks disappearing into its own mystic ambition..."

My favorite tracks [so far] are:

-Window Seat
-Turn Me Away (Get Munny)
-Gone Baby, Don't Be Long
-Love
-Out My Mind, Just in Time

NEW VIDEO: Kelis - Acapella

Can't believe I didn't post this yet. smh

People don't respect art.

And they are too quick to judge. The second lady commenting on the video can't even talk and fumbled over her words repeatedly. I'm offended that she called it out as something to not be artistic. It is obvious she judged before watching and analyzing the whole video. Erykah Badu did not set out to arouse anyone. If anything, she set out to wake someone up from their American Dream Nightmare. How could you not see the importance or concept behind that video? Half of the people working at FOX and on that specific story probably don't know sh_t about Erykah except for that video. "They are quick to assassinate what they do not understand..." I got so upset listening to them talk negative about my girl Badu. Just like the first critic said, I could see if she was sitting on the statue with her legs separate, but she wasn't. She did what everyone else was afraid to do. So many people are stuck in the box and brainwashed to think that they have to live a certain and always go by the rules. Erykah clearly defied them and I give her much kudos for that. Of course, I don't have the guts to do that but I respect her all the way and I respect her even more for making this video. "Kelly" even had the nerve to say "when you involve children with a crime like this, you cross the line". I'm pretty sure there were plenty of children over in Iraq or Afghanistan when Bush was bombing several areas in that vicinity. Get real. This is just a music video, an art form, a spontneous act. She even went under her Twitter account stating that she didn't know children were going to be around and that she hopes they weren't traumatized. Erykah, I know you meant well as all us other artists do, so keep doing your thing mama. I'll probably have more to say later on, but til' then.. Peace

I stopped watching FOX News a long time ago. Need an explanation?
